East Street Arts in collaboration with the organisations l’Entorse and Kraft is looking for a artist/maker for a mini residency in Lille this autumn.

We are looking for one UK-based artist to undertake a residency in Lille as part of l’Entorse and Kraft project Velo Café Renaissance: a programme of events inspired by bikes and cycling that will take place in various cafes across Lille and that will coincide with the cultural programme Lille3000.

The residency must include the delivery of a public event and will last between 6 to 10 days during October 2015; exact dates will be arranged with the selected artist.

The proposals must fit one or both of the following types:

-       Outdoor related projects responding to the bike as object, customization, bike powered, participatory, demonstrations or community projects, etc.

-       Indoor related projects such as visual art exhibitions, presentations, workshops, etc. Please keep in mind the places are Cafés with few spaces on the wall and the ground

This call-out is part of a new partnership project between East Street Arts (Leeds), l’Entorse (Lille, France) and Vooruit (Ghent, Belgium) entitled Ex[s]ports, and funded by EU - Creative Europe.

There is a budget of 3000€ (approximately £2100 pounds) to include all related costs: fees, materials, travel and accommodation. Artists must include a drafted budget breakdown in their proposal.

Founded in 2006, the association l’Entorse aims at creating links between the world of art and sport, as well as between their respective audiences, throughout the organization of different events in the whole Nord-Pas de Calais region and in the Euroregion. The association explores the connections between art and sport through performances, exhibitions, art and sport workshops.

Set up by the young French curators Blandine Roselle and Sarah Cnudde, Kraft is a production plateform, which has shown a great “savoir-faire” in art & bicycle exhibitions and visual projects, which have been presented in Lille, Milan or Wrocław.

Lille3000 is a cultural program promoted by the city of Lille and by the committee of Lille2004. It is a continuation of the promotion of Lille in 2004 as European Capital of Culture.Lille3000 invites you to discover the city through multidisciplinary programme of events, including music, theatre, film and exhibitions.
