To celebrate Windrush's Anniversary Brighton Museum BAME Heritage Network, SEAS (Socially Engaged Art Salon) are putting on a unique month-long exhibition and series of events. This is an open call for artists to participate in the exhibition and/or the events.

We are looking for digital art, photography, collage work, painting, sound works, films and installations and performers that document or reflect on the Windrush generation, afro-Caribbean culture and their contribution to the UK.

BAME artists are encouraged to submit works, but the exhibition is open to any artists with works on these themes.

The submission of the works and the participation in the exhibition is free, and some expenses can be paid.

The exhibition includes a competition in which the winner will receive a one-week artists residency (accommodation & studio space) at SEAS at the heart of Brighton and a solo exhibition opportunity.

The exhibition will run from October 12th to 1st November 1st.

Chosen works can be sent by post/courier, but artists are responsible for collecting the work at the end of the exhibition.

We offer to print up to A1 size photographic and other 2D works if the artists cannot afford to send the original prints.

Films and digital work can be shown on 50" TV or a series of A3 digital screens. Films will be also screened on a large screen during one of the exhibition's events.

Some artists will be invited to give a talk about their work and expenses will be paid.

Deadline to submit the work: 15th September.

This project has been supported by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government / Arts Council England.
