Wakefield Baptist Church are marking 10 years of the Night Shelter and Drop-In with an art exhibition, Words of Hope: Ten Years of the Night Shelter and Drop-In. We are inviting artists of all forms to exhibit any work on the theme of Words of Hope.

Since 2009, Wakefield Baptist Church has run a cold weather homeless shelter, and drop-in provision. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the service we are holding a three day exhibition entitled Words of Hope. The aim of the exhibition is to raise funds for the continued running of the shelter and drop-in.

There is no charge for taking part in the exhibition. However, as the purpose of the exhibition is to raise funds for the continued running of the shelter, we are asking that money raised from selling artwork goes towards this. We are happy to discuss a profit share on a case by case basis.

The exhibition opens on Sunday 27th October 2019 at 4.00pm and will then run Monday 28th - Wednesday 30th October 10am - 3pm.

Deadline for submissions: 30th September

Who is eligible for this opportunity?
Anyone who is interested in helping us support the continued work of the night shelter and drop-in.
When is the deadline?
We are asking for all submissions to be received by the end of September. We will be contacting artists in early October to finalise details
How many works can I submit?
As many as you like. Our building is not enormous, but there is plenty of space for exhibiting work. We ask that anyone submitting tells us the dimensions of their work so we can ensure we have appropriate space for it. We also ask that people inform us if they are able to display their work themselves (easels, display stands, plinths, etc)
How much does it cost?
There is no charge for taking part in the exhibition. However, as the purpose of the exhibition is to raise funds for the continued running of the shelter, we are asking that money raised from selling artwork goes towards this. We are happy to discuss a profit share on a case by case basis.

We appreciate this will not be suitable for all artists, and will be happy to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
What are the exhibition opening hours?
There is a launch event of Sunday 27th October from 4pm. The exhibition will then run from Monday 28th to Wednesday 30th October 10am to 3pm.
Does the location have disabled access?
Yes
Do I need to be present?
No- although everyone is welcome at the venue.
How do you decide on proposals?
We are open to most proposals, however, given the purpose of the exhibition is to celebrate 10 years of the Night Shelter and Drop-in, we will be assessing the suitability of work. The theme we are working in is Words of Hope so work that addresses this theme are welcome.
What happens if my proposal is chosen?
We will be in touch in early October to discuss details.
