East Street Arts
East Street Arts is a contemporary arts organisation in Leeds. Our mission is to focus on the development of artists through our events programme, membership activities, professional development and studio/facility provision.
Patrick Studios is a bespoke venue for artists and provides up to 34 quality studio spaces, resource areas, a double height Project Space and the office and headquarters of East Street Arts. It is unique as it addresses artists’ need for structured support outside of academic institutions and fosters an ethos of professional development. It is a place for artists who endeavor to be professional in their chosen discipline and it is expected that a reciprocal culture will evolve where by new relationships and collaborations are established and careers can flourish.
The Project Space hosts a range of events and residencies aimed at offering artists opportunities to generate new ideas and develop new work; and audiences opportunities to meet artists and engage with work in progress.
Union 105 is situated on Chapeltown Road. Its remit is to support artists based in the area through it’s seven studios and to deliver a series of commissions that invite artists to develop new work in response to and with the sites, contexts and people of Chapeltown. The small, off the street Project Space hosts work by commissioned artists and partner events.
Alongside Patrick Studios and Union 105, we have studio spaces at Barkston House also in Leeds, and in Gateshead Old Town Hall, and we have a variety of studios within out Temporary Space scheme.
More on our Membership
The aim of our membership scheme is to support artists and arts professionals, providing them with skills, advice and resources to help further their development. By joining this well-established community, members can actively engage with a national visual arts network, access opportunities, apply for workspace and participate in the annual open studios programme.
