Helen Kilby Nelson
Helen Kilby Nelson is an artist, writer, curator and consultant. Helen is an artist, activist with a multi-disciplinary practice that is informed by social and political issues. Helen's practice includes independent and collaborative working practices and social art. Helen has initiated a number of projects as a response to a lack of access within the arts and wider society, including a tenants' action group, a mental health wellbeing group and artist peer support & professional development programmes including Speedy Crits, supported by Coventry Artspace.
Helen is currently Artist & Project Lead for the 2 year S-o-A Community Art Project which, as well as providing creative opportunities with the local community and schools, also provides a mix of freelance and commission opportunities for artists based in Stratford upon Avon and the wider South Warwickshire area. Helen is also one of the caretakers of the Parallel State, an activist breakaway state offering free citizenry for those seeking alternative solutions to life on earth.
