Welcome to Round Lemon!
Round Lemon is an online platform run by artists, for artists. Our aim is to provide a community space for artists to:
- Participate and host various workshops.
- Take part in exhibitions, competitions and publications.
- Sell their work through our Art Shop.
- Engage and post about art through ZEST.
- Find out about art events and opportunities in the UK.
Our mission as an online arts collective is to provide a safe space for artists online, to share their ideas with other like-minded people. It was important that we launched this initiative during lockdown, to create a sense of community in what seems to be quite an isolating time. If you consider yourself an artist, art student, artist educator, or have any general interest in art, then Round Lemon is relevant to you. This is your space to participate, whether it be just tuning in to read ZEST content, or maybe you envision yourself hosting a workshop and selling your work. Even if you don’t know anything about art and just want to have a nosey, this is the place for you to learn something new and engage with real people studying and working on the art scene.
Round Lemon and ZEST was founded by four artists: Ryan ‘Dyson’ Asbury, Bethan Jayne, Andreea Pislaru and Carmela Vienna (you can find out more about us and our practices through our artist profiles and blogs on ZEST). We realised how hard it can be as an artist starting out to get your work seen and so we wanted to be able to provide that opportunity. We also felt that there was need for a wider art community that did not rely on ability. The Round Lemon community involves learning just as much as sharing.
We are looking for lots of people to get involved, and there are many ways you can do this. Firstly, you could apply to be an associate artist, workshop leader or guest writer. An associate artist is someone who will be able to sell their work through our ZEST shop. A workshop leader will be able to lead both physical and digital workshops, with tickets being bought through the ZEST shop. A guest writer will write posts for us, which will feature on ZEST.
