"Iwata Parana" is a residency program for visual artists, architects, photographers, and other disciplines in the Peruvian amazon.

The residency program "Iwata Parana" welcomes visual artists, architects, photographers, and other disciplines; national and international for the period of one month to develop projects related to the Peruvian Amazon, the community of Santo Thomas - Iquitos and ancient culture Kukama Kukamiria or Amazonian culture. The program aims to create an environment of cultural exchange, artistic production and research, architectural projects, etc.

The residence is located in the community Kukama Kukamiria Santo Tomas - Iquitos, around 30 minutes from Airport Coronel FAP Francisco Secada Vignetta (IQT) on one of the Mapacocha lakeshore of Nanay River, a tributary of the Amazon River. The origin of the community Santo Tomas is the Amazonian ethnic Kukama Kukamiria. The main activity of Santo Tomas inhabitants are handicrafts. 

The studio is called “Kukamera” it is a floating indigenous maloka built with traditional techniques and materials of the Amazon ancestral architecture. The Kukamera was originally the center of Yrapakatun Association whose mission is to strengthen indigenous culture and identity of children and young people of the community Kukama Kukamiria Santo Tomas. In this time the Kukamera will host the Iwata Parana artist-in-residence.

The Kukamera has a large multipurpose room and studio, two dormitories available for artists, bathroom, kitchen and traditional BBQ, a large open space for installations, performances, etc., and camping area.
