By Other Means is a gallery, workshop and event venue. So far we have had an amazing line up of exhibitions, talks, workshops and performances of all kinds. Looking toward to the new year we want to fill this space with an even more varied schedule. Whether you work on canvas, build instruments, design clothes, write stories or get on stage and do something fabulous, send us a proposal!

Whilst we do not have a theme for this call we are particularly interested in works that can be taken out of the white cube context & exhibited in untraditional ways. In addition to this we are looking to expand into more mediums ourselves and hope to sponsor artists who are keen to do the same. In the new year we will be working with designers, print makers and publishers to bring art into every sphere of life. Details to apply below!

Free to apply | Closes Jan 1st 2017

VISUAL ART

At By Other Means we are especially interested in works that can be exhibited in untraditional ways. Taking works out of the white cube context and exploring the experience of art through a different lens.

  • 3-10 high res images of your work
  • A short bio and description of your work (500 words max)
  • Social media & relevant site links

PERFORMANCE

Within the gallery space we host a variety of performances by both external groups and by other means. The call is now open for pop up pieces, musical works, lectures, workshops and performances for our 2017 winter bill.

  • Images or video of previous work
  • A short bio and proposal for the performance (500 words max)
  • Social media & relevant site links

WRITTEN WORK

Finally, heading into the new year we are hoping to start working on an online publication showcasing written works by authors of all disciplines. Selected works would further be celebrated in a series of poetry, lecture and creative writing series hosted at the gallery throughout the season.

  • Examples of previous work
  • A short bio and proposals if required (500 words max)
  • Social media & relevant site links
