The Show

Artists are invited to submit work celebrating femininity. This can cover diverse topics such as beauty, history and women in society, from both a male and female perspective. We welcome entries of both 2 and 3D work.

Due to the nature of the venue, we also welcome entries for performance art, and encourage artists to consider any events they might like to hold to coincide with any work selected. 

The private view will take place on International Women’s Day.

A 20% commission on all sales will be donated to a charity in support of women (to be determined before exhibition)

 

Artwork

-         Up to 3 pieces may be submitted for consideration by each artist

-         Wall based work must not exceed 100cm x 100cm

-         We welcome submissions for 3D works, however you will be required to supply your own plinth for display. 3D works must not exceed 1 square metre of floor space. 

A Selection Committee will review all submissions and select works for the exhibition.

Deadline for submission – Thursday 1st December 2016

Notification of Selection – Thursday 15th December 2016

 

-         Images of all works being submitted (maximum 3 images of each)

-         A rationale for each work being submitted (max 100 words)

-         An artist’s statement detailing your practice, and why you feel your work is perfect for this exhibition (max 500 words)

-         Links to your website and any social media accounts you wish to use in association with this exhibition

 

Terms and Conditions

-         All artists are invited to submit work, there are no restrictions

-         If selected, all work must be delivered “exhibition ready”. Any work that is not will not be exhibited.

-         We recommend that all exhibiting artist arrange insurance for their work. The organisers will not accept liability for the art works.

-         Any work sold during the show is subject to a commission of 20% payable (to be donated to a nominated women’s charity).

-         All works must be delivered for installation on Monday 6th March, and be collected by the artists on Wednesday 22nd March.

What are the exhibition opening hours?
The show is in a gallery, in a pub so will be open when the pub is open - roughly 12pm-11pm every day of the week.

What publicity will be provided as part of the opportunity?
The event will be publicised by both The Floating Gallery and The Brunswick on social media, and with flyers and posters throughout Leeds. Other forms of publicity will also be explored.
Do I need to be present?
We would hope that artists would be present for the private view but it is not necessary. Artists are not required to invigilate.
How do you decide on proposals?
The gallery owner and a small selection team will decide on works to be shown.
What happens if my proposal is chosen?
You will be notified by email on Thursday 15th December 2016.
