A mixed media artist currently painting and creating monotypes in acrylic and collage and playing with different methods to make the accidental intentional. Having returned to my creative practice, its a constant evolution towards authenticity in process, content and scale focussed on being inspired by nature and seeking to convey my emotional responses to the landscape.

Currently on a six-month creative and wellbeing sabbatical to recover from long Covid and to develop my creative practice. I left Bradford Art College 40 years ago and only returned to my art in 2018, spending the intervening years facilitating other people’s creativity. As a ‘reactivated’ artist, its now time to re-emerge fully with an overarching goal to be on creating art from now on. Being a participant in Saltaire Arts Trail is an important part of this intention.

A mixed media artist who lives in Thornton, I am a studio holder based at South Square where I am a member of Unit 9 artists collective. My work is evolving in authenticity; in process, methods and content. The subject matter has remained consistent and is about seeking to convey my emotional responses to nature and the landscape. Exhibiting in Sept 2023, entitled 'In Transition', the exhibition mapped my changing creative practice and sought to set a direction of travel incorporating mixed-media, painting and mono-printing. It is this phase of the evolution of the work that I would like to exhibit at Saltaire Arts Trail 2024.

The connection to this landscape is an important part of the making - Thornton village was the birth place of the Brontes and carries with it that drama. I seek to capture the feel and the voice of this landscape, as a photographer would. My medium being the layer upon layer of paint, shape and form, mark-making, colour, collage and texture.

A recent collaboration is with The Craft Gallery in Bingley, where in 2024, I will be having a solo exhibition in addition to running workshops. I have previously exhibited at The Apothecary Gallery in Thornton and Studio Vault in Settle where I’ve sold original works as well as limited edition giclee prints and cards.
