Gaby Roter I am based in Steinen, Germany, approaching painting as a dialogue between intuition and observation. I begin with organic forms and natural motifs, allowing textures, and layers to evolve layer over layer. Working predominantly in series, I explore variations on themes, aiming not merely to depict nature, but to express its rhythms, cycles, and the interplay between human and nature.

My painting navigates the space between realism and abstraction, combining diverse materials to create depth, texture, and tension. In addition to traditional paints, I work with ink, silver, wood, and charred surfaces. Scoring, layering, and material experimentation are central to my process, often incorporating traces of my earlier metalwork into the paintings. The result is a multi-layered, tactile visual language where the visible and the hidden merge.
