I am a fine artist focussing on painting drawing and printing, with a particular enduring interest and fascination in colour. I find the Yorkshire Dales a particular inspiration. My main subjects are colourfield, landscape, still life and figurative.
I love to paint with oils, acrylic paints and inks and draw with charcoal and pencil. There is something very physical and intimate about these media for me. I also create prints using collagraphs, screen printing and etching. I occasionally use watercolour.
I aim to convey a sense of place or person in my artwork that does not represent pure visual imagery but a deeper feeling that I develop as I engage my subject matter. I paint from the heart using my eyes, sketches and photographs to inform my work.
My main artistic activity has been until recently to combine being an exhibition curator and oil painting in my private studio in Bradford, West Yorkshire. I am now focussing on my own work and no longer acting as a fine art exhibition curator other that within my own group of artists at Aire Valley Arts.
I run a life and portrait drawing group at Keighley Creative Space.
