I studied Fine Art at Newport College of Art 1968 - 72. Taught Art and Ceramics. Currently painting and printmaking.

For me, using my work to draw on my attachment to the landscape and memories of childhood is an important aspect of my work. Realist techniques are essential to this. In my paintings seeing brushwork is essential for the composition. By the use of strong vibrant colour I aim to intensify the emotional content for the observer.

Every so often I hone my technique with intense drawing. Often that feeds into my printmaking ideas too.

The creative process takes place over a long period of time as I carefully assess each piece as I go along. As I’ve grown older I’ve found that acrylic suits my painting techniques rather than oils.
