  Back to profiles

I grew up amongst the textile industry spending my childhood playing amongst the derelict mills. Drawn back to the rugged and remote beauty of the Pennines I began roaming the ancient footpaths, turnpike roads and bridleways to capture the drama of our landscape, its social and industrial heritage and the lives of the people who lived here.

Each of my images is the result of many hours roaming the ancient footpaths, bridleways and turnpike roads with Megs, our Border Collie, in all weathers, revisiting and waiting patiently until sun, clouds and rain allow me to catch the right moment. I use long exposures to capture the depth and atmosphere of my subjects, and the minimal use of software and editing so that all of my images are presented as they are caught through the lens at that moment, a celebration of the subject’s natural and intrinsic beauty.
