My art is about bringing imagination to life through abstract and semi-abstract pieces. I work mainly with mixed media, using acrylic paint and inks, building up layers of paint, texture, and intuitive markings. I love experimenting with marks and I enjoy creating small details within large paintings. Nature is my greatest inspiration.
My art is inspired by the beauty, texture and ever-changing character of the natural world. Working mainly with mixed media, acrylic paint and inks, I create abstract and semi-abstract landscapes and seascapes through layers of colour, texture, mark-making and intuitive detail. Texture is always at the heart of my work. I love building surfaces slowly, allowing paint, inks and textured materials to interact and evolve. I’m fascinated by the small details that can emerge within a much larger painting - subtle marks, fragments, layers and imperfections that invite you to look closer and discover something new. I don't think a painting can be full appreciated until you get up close.
Nature has always been my greatest source of inspiration. I spend much of my time outdoors, often walking with my dog, taking in the changing light, colours, textures and shapes of the landscape around me. Growing up in a quiet village surrounded by rolling countryside, I developed a deep connection with the natural world from an early age.
My paintings are an exploration of that connection, a way of capturing not just how a landscape looks, but how it feels. I want my work to evoke a sense of calm, depth and quiet connection, while offering the viewer something new to discover each time they look.
