Lisa graduated from Staffordshire University in 1993 with a degree in Fine Art, Printmaking. She has since worked as a printmaking technician and tutor in London for over 20 years, and her current role is Specialist Screen Print Technician at London College of Communication.

Lisa’s current practice explores motion, stillness and duration: focussing on the spaces in-between experienced by travel, through shifting vistas and changing light.

Phone pictures taken on the move, through train, car and plane windows provide a starting point, capturing fleeting glimpses of unknown landscapes or transient skies.

These split-second moments are slowed down through time intensive print processes, as the images are taken into four colour printing, using photo-etching, screenprint, photo-litho and most recently, photopolymer relief. The spontaneity of the images, sometimes out of focus or with accidental glitches, forms a dichotomy to the slow and precise mechanical layering of halftone dots as a form of reproduction.

The scale and composition of these images references train tickets, the phone screen and our digital storage/viewing of photographs.
