The surrounding areas of beautiful sea coastline are a constant source of inspiration in what I create. Where I live in Regional NSW is one of the elements that affects my artwork, it influences some of my decisions in what I choose to paint. I have recently gone back to portrait painting and exploring new techniques to achieve a balance of color and line work and happy with my results.

I find that designing and thinking through a piece of artwork is more productive. This may involve exploring new types of equipment to develop an art piece. I like to develop my art skills by improving various new techniques and constantly updating the materials I use to produce a better result. As an artist my achievements and success in art have varied through perseverance in working from my creative abilities in many art practices over the years. The success of running my own art studio business, group and solo art exhibitions have been financially productive. Not all avenues have resulted in success but the understanding from rejection helped me to take other paths of self-promotion in developing better communication skills. Inspiration can be from many sources such as nature and the place where I live. Achieving new techniques I have never tried before and exploring different art materials is inspirational to develop a better piece of artwork. Taking the time to visit galleries and museums to view other artists work and appreciate what went into producing their artwork is inspiration. One of the biggest challenges in being an artist is to survive; pay bills earn enough money to support your art practice. I have been fortunate in that I not only painted and sketched in my art practice but also diverted my art skills to designing and worked as a Graphic Designer for many years. By being practical and adapting to other areas in arts helped to expand my knowledge of creating a more diverse range of art pieces.
