"Abstracted" is an exhibition and a publication surrounding all works of abstract- what you portray with your abstract work (or your process) in your artistic practice. We encourage you to take the subject matter as conceptually or literally as possible, as it is a form of creative research on contemporary abstract art.

The exhibition will be hosted on our gallery site and promoted on social media (Instagram and LinkedIn).

A publication (as "Abstracted" will be the fifth issuance of the Material Issue) will be created, printed and sent to participating artists.

We will sell a limited number of these issues through our website store. Please see the shipping section for information on how much you will receive.

Successful Participants:

All successful participants will receive a copy of the publication (or multiple copies [see SHIPPING section below]) sent to their address.

All successful participants will have their submitted work published in our publication and online exhibition on Meta Space Gallery’s website.

Fees:

There are no submission fees for this opportunity.

Participation Fee:

If accepted, you must pay £25 (the base fee for up to 3 artworks). If you have submitted more than 3 artworks and have had more than 3 artworks accepted, you must pay £6.50 for each artwork after the third. [3 extra artworks would require you to pay £19.50 more].

We give you the option to choose how many works you want in the publication after you've been accepted if you would rather show less than we've accepted if you change your mind.

The participation fee helps pay for the printing cost and shipping costs. We also have to pay for our web servers, hosting and other costs accrued by the gallery.

Note: Material Issue 3 (Contrast) was much more expensive than we had expected, so the application fees have been increased for new issues of the Material publication. However - this is due to the good quality of the paper and printing.

Interview Fee:

  • If you want an interview in the publication, you will pay per page of the interview used. It costs £6.50 per page, and we will only charge after the interview. This will allow you to take parts out to reduce the cost if it uses more pages than you want.

Shipping:

Every successful artist will receive at least one copy. We offer up to 2 copies for UK artists.

Due to prohibitive shipping costs, we do not offer more than one copy to artists outside of the UK unless you are willing to pay for the printing and shipping costs after the first.

Please get in touch with us if you wish to acquire more than one or two copies.

Publication Quality:

The publication is A4, perfect-bound with 200gsm inside and 350gsm cover paper.

The publication will be printed by around the 21st of November to the 25th and shipped off around the start of December (it's usually a day after it has been printed).

If there are delays in shipping we will let you know immediately.

This, however, will vary depending on how many artists we represent in the publication. The more- the later it may be printed due to more editing.

Online Exhibition:

The exhibition will be held from 21st of November to the 12th of December. The exhibition is held online.
