The 2nd ACEarts Open returns with an open call for artists and makers to submit work for an exhibition in our beautiful gallery from 14th October to 11th November 2023.
We are delighted to offer the opportunity to take part in a professionally curated exhibition at ACEarts (ACE), Somerset.
Submissions close midnight 7th September.
Successful applicants will be notified of selection by 14th September.
Artists and makers are invited to submit a maximum of 3 works for selection, to be hung in a professionally curated exhibition at ACEarts between October and November 2023, showcasing the diversity of art and contemporary craft.
The exhibition will run from 14th October to 11th November 2023. The major prize winner will be a solo show in 2024.
Artists are invited to submit a maximum of 3 works and prices are:
- 1 submission is £20 for a single submission so please choose the '1 submission £20' button
- 2 submissions are £18 each so please choose the '2 submission £36' button
- 3 submissions are £15 each so please choose the '3 submission £45' button
PLEASE NOTE: you will need to include your Order Confirmation Number in your application. Therefore, please go to ACEarts.co.uk in order to pay for your submissions in advance. Your Order Confirmation Number will be found on your online receipt - this will be sent to the email you use to pay for your application to the Open.
Submissions can be in any media (excluding digital media, film, installation, or reproduction prints of works) including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, photography, etc.
All works must be for sale and are subject to a 45% commission.
All entries are subject to a selection process will take place online.
All artists must submit one image of each work (for 3D artworks, please include 2 images of each piece to help us see them better). Please ensure your images are as clear as possible.
If the work is 2D we do not need to see the frame in the image.
Submitted images should be no more than 2 mb in size.
Please title your images (first name last name_ number 1-4.jpg) eg: Nina-Lewis_1.jpg
Please include information about the dimensions and prices of all pieces (this must include our 45% commission) in the description of your work.
Entry guidelines
This OPEN exhibition is open to artists and makers aged 18 and over on the day of submission.
All selected works must be delivered to the gallery between 10-4pm on Monday 9th October.
Entries are accepted in the form of any media (excluding digital media, film, installation or reproduction prints of works) including painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, photography, etc.
Entries will only be accepted once the full submission fee has been paid
2D and/or work for hanging on the wall = max size 1m x 1m. Work for hanging on the wall MUST be ready to hang with either frame, tablet canvas, or mounted on board all with D-rings ready.
Mirror plates are not admissible unless through prior agreement with the curator.
Work which is not suitable and safe for hanging will be not be included in the exhibition.
3D and/or work for standing on floor/plinth = max size D50 cm x W 70 cm x H 100cm and must weigh no more than is safe for one person to lift. The exhibition is up a flight of stairs but we do have a stair lift which provides access for some disabilities.
Please ensure floor and plinth works are stable and you ensured they cause no risk to our audience. Unstable or unsafe works will not be exhibited and will need prompt collection by the artist.
Works deposited at the gallery must be unwrapped by the artists and the wrapping taken away with them.
All works must be clearly labelled with you name, title of the piece, and price.
When you deliver the work(s) you will be asked to sign our T&C’s and complete a stock form.
The exhibition runs from 14th October to 11th November
Work must be collected Tuesday 14th November 10-4 pm
Sale of work: ACEarts takes a 45% commission.
Marketing
ACE will produce any PR it deems appropriate, copyright remains with the artist, by submitting works you agree for ACEarts to use that image for promotional purposes.
ACE agrees to promote the exhibition within its programme of events via the website, e-news, social media, local press and other relevant sites.
ACE will not share entrants’ personal information with third parties.
Other: any submission which ACEarts considers to be inappropriate, or cause offence (at the discretion of the curator) will not be accepted. The panels selection is final. The submission fee is non-refundable.
Collection of unsold works:
ACE will not arrange your courier. ACE will dispose of any artworks not collected within 2 weeks of the exhibition closing.
Transport and delivery of artworks and any associated costs are the responsibility of the artist.
Insurance
Work selected will be insured by ACE for the duration of the exhibition. Whilst every care will be taken in the housing and handling of work, no responsibility will be accepted by ACE for any damage that might occur. Artists should insure their work for the period of transit.
ACE reserves the right to not display work as requested. The curators’ decision is final.
ACE reserves the right not to hang all selected works whether this is due to lack of space or any other factor which may affect the overall nature of the exhibition. The decision of the Curator is final. ACE cannot enter into any correspondence or discussion over the decisions made by the Curator.
Photographs taken of work during the exhibition may be used in promotional material to advertise the gallery, exhibition and work of ACE.
