2415 Art Residency is an independent, artist-run, non-profit residency program dedicated to fostering artistic development and supporting artists' projects. The name 2415 symbolizes not only our altitude but also a distorted sense of time—a moment where midnight and the unknown blur together.

Who Can Apply?

  • Artists: Painters, sculptors, multimedia artists, performance artists, writers, musicians, filmmakers, dancers, and other creative individuals.
  • Curators, art directors, and visionaries who wish to propose events, gatherings, exhibitions, or other creative initiatives.
  • Open to both emerging and established artists.
  • Artists with an interest in nature-inspired, site-specific, or research-driven projects are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants should be able to work independently and adapt to a high-altitude environment.
  • Theme: Open-ended, but we encourage projects exploring altitude, perception shifts, time distortion, and cross-cultural interactions.

Facilities

2415 Art Residency is housed in a renovated traditional Naxi courtyard, providing a balance between historical character and modern amenities.

  • Private and communal areas with modern facilities.
  • Spacious studio spaces with ample natural light and flexible working areas, suitable for various artistic practices.
  • Shared studios and exhibition spaces with sufficient workspace to accommodate different needs.
  • High-speed, unlimited internet access.
  • A welcoming kitchen and social area to foster connections and relaxation alongside focused artistic work.

Transportation

  • Convenient access to public transportation throughout Lijiang.
  • A bicycle is available for use upon request.
  • Artists must bring all necessary materials for their projects.
  • If you have specific requirements and are unsure where to source materials locally, please contact us via email—we will do our best to assist you in realizing your project.

Fees:

  • Studio and accommodation are provided free of charge.
  • Selected artists are responsible for all other expenses, including food, transportation, travel costs, insurance, and art materials.
  • 2415 Art Residency does not offer stipends or living allowances. Artists should seek external funding to support their stay.
  • If you are applying for financial support elsewhere, we are happy to provide a letter of support for your funding application.

Expectations from Artists

  • Completion of an artistic project during the residency, along with a written residency reflection.
  • Artists may be invited to participate in exhibitions, performances, workshops, or special events either during or at the conclusion of their residency.
  • Selected works or documentation may be featured on the 2415 Art Residency website and social media.
