Ball & Chain Born from the flashes of a dying universe. The balls weigh heavy upon our soul but at last we have been freed. The fetters no longer hang from our bodies. A (performance art) night in Leeds that's ready to take you by the hand. We'll lead you around the daisy chains, up the garden path, ready to kick that freshly relieved ball into the goal hole of life. Yes, it's the first one and each night we will have a theme. We can't stay around venues too long lest The Foundation locate where we are. The deadline for applicants is Friday 22nd March 11pm.

Venue

The first venue we are holding this night is The Fenton, it is an upstairs space that is not accessible. If you require an accessible venue we will be in contact about when and where are next night will take place. Further down we will write our email so we can talk about what we can do.

Timing

You have a 15-20 minute slot although this can be shorter or longer upon a discussion with us. This can be live or a pre-recorded performance. We also accept video submissions as well as live broadcasts that we can stream at the venue. If this last option is the case then we can talk and test tech beforehand.

Date

Oh yes the date! We are set to go live on Friday April 12th. Doors open at 7.30pm- 11pm. We may have to run tech with you so might ask you to pop by earlier on.

Money

We are a DIY evening and our funds come from the ticket sales both from online and on the door. We will hopefully be able to open this to online donations to generate more for our acts. With this in mind we aim to fund travel costs for the artists and if there are any funds leftover we will work out a split fee for all the artists.

Safety

We've got our on-site safety officer to assist with all the up-to-date security measures. This is why we need you to be clear about exactly what will be happening in your performance. We endeavour to make sure our performers, audiences and the staff at the venues feel safe during our events. Anything that goes against each venues safer space policy will not be tolerated. Access

As mentioned above if you have any access requirements you think we should be aware of please contact us. Equally you can state below and we endeavour to assist you as best we can.

Theme

The first theme is New beginnings, just like we have been given a new lease on what we know of this existence. Please take this phrase and your own meaning from it, let your ideas run free, we place no chains upon you, well only if you want us to. Have fun and we look forward to seeing what you write!
