BioCraft Birmingham is a one-day gathering celebrating the people, practices and ideas shaping biocraft across the city.

Taking place at The Hive on Saturday 19th September 2026, the event brings together artists, designers, makers, researchers, community organisations and grassroots initiatives who work with natural materials, sustainable processes and environmentally conscious approaches to making.

As part of the 20th anniversary of Park(ing) Day and Heritage Month, BioCraft Birmingham creates space to share knowledge, exchange ideas and build connections across Birmingham's growing biocraft community.

Rather than a traditional craft market, the event focuses on collaboration, conversation and creative exchange.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet local makers, discover innovative projects, learn about sustainable materials and heritage techniques, and explore how craft can contribute to more regenerative ways of living and making.

Some exhibitors will also have a small selection of work available to purchase.

There are three main ways to participate:

1. Showcase what you are doing in the gallery. Each participant will be given a space in the gallery to use in a number of ways.
   
   You might display items you've made and/or the raw biomaterials, or material samples; or you might show aspects of a process or a piece of equipment with the biomaterials being used in it; or you might be doing an activity which could be interactive for visitors.
   
   You may need wall or floor space or props to display items.  This is not a traditional fair with stalls, though some tables will be available for those who need them.
   
   
2. Giving a demonstration - this would be in the demo zone of the gallery - a sink is available in this space and there will be tables set up for the demo. We need to know how long your demo is and what is required for it.
   
   
3. 15 minute talks in the makers' studio - this will be an area for discussion and networking and there will be regular timed talks.
   
   A screen and projector will be available and you could also put out samples for discussion in an informal q&a afterwards.
