t e x t u r mag is calling for text and visual submissions for its third issue, Art & Sustainability, which will be published in print and online in October 2020.

Send us your pitches!

textur mag is calling for pitches for its upcoming issue, art & sustainability, which will be published in October 2020. This call is open to writers, artists, activists, curators, designers, researchers, etc. interested in engaging with the topic of sustainability in the context of the art and cultural sector.

Our third issue will be published both on- and offline -- in riso-print -- and will consider the topic of sustainability not only through discussion of the ecological impact of the art system and sustainable art practices, but through other crucial areas, as well: including social and economic sustainability – via issues such as lack of funding opportunities, lack of access and inclusion, and persisting institutional racism.

We welcome submissions in various disciplines, media and formats: including essays, reviews, creative nonfiction, poetry, illustrations, drawings, photography, mixed media, etc. Applicants may submit either text, visual art, or combined text and visual art proposals. Experimental approaches to art writing are very welcome and encouraged. When making a submission of visual art, please take into consideration that images will be transferred into a bi-color risograph format for both print and online.

We particularly encourage submissions from Black, Indigenous, POC, LGBT+, and marginalized writers, curators, artists, activists, researchers etc.

---

Payment: Each selected submission will be compensated with a contributor’s fee of 100 euros and each contributor will receive 5 copies of the printed issue.

Selection procedure: The textur editors will review and consider every submitted proposal. Five proposals will be selected which together offer a diverse selection of ideas and perspectives on sustainability in the context of the art and cultural sector. We will respond to each proposal no later than August 31st.
