The deadline for this opportunity has passed, and no more submissions are being accepted. Click here to have a look at other opportunities listed on CuratorSpace.

We are seeking a variety of submissions on the subject of youth – these can be visual, written or a combination of both. Please feel free to interpret the theme any way you see fit – this could include memories of the past, thoughts about the future, visions of the present or aspects of youth culture. The more variety the better!

We are looking for the following:

  • Fiction
  • Non-fiction
  • Flash-fiction
  • Poetry
  • Comics
  • Illustration / art / visual art
  • Photography
  • Collages
  • Lists
  • Random combinations of the above

While previous issues have featured long form pieces and interviews, the new page count won’t allow for many of these and we’d also like to feature the work of as many people as possible, so please bear this in mind when submitting (depending on the response, we’re hoping to give contributors 1-3 pages each)

RULES

There are no submission fees or reading fees or any of that nonsense. Unfortunately, we’re not able to pay for submissions either but each contributor will receive a copy of the zine and as much promotion as we can manage. The zine will also be available at numerous book fairs across the UK.

You are welcome to submit work that has been published previously elsewhere, as long as the previous publisher doesn’t have exclusivity.

If you are an illustrator and would like to provide an illustration for a short story or poem, please drop us a line and we’ll be in touch once we’ve reviewed the relevant submissions.

All visual content should be sent as 300 DPI jpegs and should work on an A5 page.

All text documents should be sent as Word documents.

Please also include a short, third person bio and any social media handles and websites, in case your work is chosen. Don’t worry if you don’t like writing about yourself, just send include the basic information and we’ll tidy it up when we go to print. Long bios may be edited down to the essentials (the current format has a strict page limit and we’d like to feature as much work as possible).

DEADLINE

The deadline for submissions is July 25th 2019. The intention is to get the issue ready in time for our next event, the London Art Book Fair at Whitechapel Gallery in September, though the deadline may be extended if required.

CONTACT

Please submit via Curatorspace and we’ll try to get back to you one way or another as soon as we can, but please bear with us and also check your junk folder from time to time, as our emails seem to end up there for some reason.

Off you go then!
