Applications are now open for ceramic artists and potters to apply for one or both days of our two-day pottery market, hosted inside a working ceramics studio in Leeds.

This is not a general craft market. We’re looking for makers whose work reflects care, curiosity and a considered approach to clay, from functional pottery and tableware to vessels, decorative pieces and sculptural forms.

After over a year of member-led pottery markets, we’re opening applications beyond our studio community for the first time.

Alongside the market, all participating makers will be invited to a glaze clinic session at Sunken Studio.

This will be a chance to troubleshoot glaze challenges with our glaze experts, share knowledge and spend time with other ceramicists ahead of the event.

The event will take place inside our working studio space, where clay is handled and ideas develop throughout the year.

Located a short walk from Leeds train station and close to The Tetley, visitors won’t just be browsing ceramics, but stepping into the environment where they are made.

The market will take place across two days, with makers welcome to apply for one day or both:

• Saturday 31 October
• Sunday 1 November

Previous stallholders have brought a wide range of ceramic practices, from everyday tableware and functional pottery to vessels and abstract sculpture.

What connects the work is not one particular style, but an attention to process, material and the decisions made along the way.

The market brings together our studio community, pottery students and visitors interested in discovering and supporting independent ceramic artists and makers.

We’re looking for makers with:

• A considered ceramic practice and clear approach to making
• A collection of finished work ready to share with visitors
• Images that showcase the quality and character of their work

We’re looking for finished, considered work ready to be shared with visitors. This market is not intended for seconds or clearance stock.

We have minimum price guidance in place to support the value of handmade ceramics and ensure the market reflects the time, skill and care involved in making. Please see the FAQ for further details.

We welcome applications from both emerging and established ceramicists.

Selection is based on the work itself: the care, thought and connection behind each maker’s practice, rather than previous selling experience.

Set up: 10:00 am
Market: 11:00 am–3:00 pm
Cost: £50 per day (including VAT)

The fee includes your allocated display space, promotion through Sunken Studio’s website, social media and newsletter, and an invitation to our glaze clinic session ahead of the event.

Available display spaces include:

Trolley space
Three movable shelves, approximately 70cm x 60cm each, which can be arranged to suit your display.

Half bench space
Approximately 120cm x 120cm.

Display tables and shelving are provided as part of your allocated space. Makers are welcome to bring additional display equipment, props or materials to help present their work in their own way.

Applications close at midnight on 31 August 2026. Late applications may be considered subject to availability.

Fees must be paid in advance to secure your place. Successful makers will receive payment details and deadlines following confirmation.

Participating makers will be featured across Sunken Studio’s website, social media channels and newsletter. Additional promotion will include organic social media, flyers, and promotion through our studio community and local networks.

All stallholders must hold valid Public Liability Insurance. Please ensure this is in place before the event.
