Artists are invited to submit work that addresses our theme of hope and light and the title - THAT’S HOW THE LIGHT GETS IN for Chapel Arts Studios annual Open Exhibition.

The 2026 CAS summer annual Open Exhibition invites artists to submit work in any contemporary art medium that responds to the title That's How the Light Gets In.

Work will be selected by Chapel Arts Studios' director Russ Tunney and curator Fiona Cassidy plus an invited guest selector who will be confirmed shortly.

PRIZE - The panel will award one artist a solo show which will be held at Chapel Arts Studios in 2027.

Work must have been made within the past three years and should be no larger than 1 meter in any dimension.

We are based at The Chapel, St Mary's Cemetery, Andover.

CAS is a socially engaged contemporary visual arts charity based in Andover, Hampshire. 

We are one of Arts Council England's National Portfolio Organisations (NPO).

After submitting your first artwork, you will then be directed to make a payment. Select the amount for the number of submissions you would like to make.

If this is more than one, you will then be able to make further submissions by submitting additional forms up to the number of artworks you have paid for.

Submission fees

The following submission fees apply to this opportunity.

  • General Submission - 1 work - 10.00 GBP
  • General Submission - 2 works - 15.00 GBP
  • General Submission - 3 works - 20.00 GBP
  • CAS Associates - up to 3 works - 10.00 GBP

The appropriate fee will be payable using a debit or credit card after the first submission has been completed. If the submission fee allows you to submit more than once, you will be able to make further submissions after the first. Who is eligible for this opportunity?
Visual artists over the age of 16. Please be aware that if you are under 18, a guardian must register on your behalf.
When is the deadline?
Sunday 7 June 2026.
How many works can I submit?
Up to three.
When is the delivery date?
Between 10 am - 2 pm Saturday 20th or 10 am - 2 pm Monday 22nd June.
When do I need to collect my work?
Saturday 25 July, between 3 pm - 6 pm or Tuesday 28 July, between 10 am - 4 pm.
How much does it cost?
General Submission - £10 for the first artwork, £15 for a second and £20 for three
CAS Associates - up to 3 pieces for £10
Are there payments to artists?
No.
Is there a private view / opening?
Friday 26th June, 5-7 pm.
What are the exhibition opening hours?
11 am and 4 pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Will artwork be for sale?
Yes. Chapel Art Studios will retain 30% commission.
