China: A Consolidated History - Exhibition Callout
Deadline: 16/12/2023City: London | Region: London | Country: United Kingdom | Yuantian Shen
The Confucius Institute for Dance and Performance at Goldsmiths, University of London, is pleased to announce this open call for artwork submissions for our upcoming exhibition, China: A Consolidated History, which will explore how fragments of China’s illustrious history can be retold and embodied through traditional and contemporary artistic mediums and voices.
This special exhibition will be a small-scale exhibition that will run for one night only as part of Goldsmiths Confucius Institute's Chinese New Year performance. The exhibition will be held in the same venue as the performance venue and will have a large number of attendees from Goldsmiths and the local Lewisham and wider London community. It is set to be an educational, and engaging experience that gives a contemporary insight into some of China’s vast history for both exhibiting artists and attendees.
**About the Exhibition**
From the earliest tribes and farming communities along the Huanghe river to the formation of dynasties and empires; with carved bones and beautifully formed ceramics dating back more than 10,000 years, the Chinese civilization is one of the longest-standing in human history – Chinese anthropology is vast, ever-changing and multifaceted.
China: A Consolidated History, this special exhibition aims to create an immersive journey that celebrates a rich tapestry of Chinese art, culture and humanity and exhibits artworks that emblematize varied fragments of Chinese history.
**Call for Submissions**
