A counter-cultural zine across media, literature, arts and gender politics. Culturefuck(ed). Bi-monthly virtual zine in 600 word & visual segments

Culturefuck(ed.) is a new zine open to all from interdisciplinary spectrums including arts, humanities, literature, and gender studies. With an aim to share dialogue across fields and share interesting theory, the zine is made up of photography, computer generated images, memes, critical essays, poetry, blogs and salt. Limiting works to a 600 word limit, the zine is a short and sharp take on all things cultural and how they are fucked. For example, architecture as a profession is fucked due to cultural incommensurability; movies are fucked as they refuse to exist within a postmodern environment of multi-ethnicity make-ups; and politics are fucked as white male privilege still exists as a hierarchical structure.

Submissions are invited from all who feel they have something to share about culture and can identify the links between theory, culture, and fucked-ness. For the opening issue in Autumn/Winter 2018, we are seeking image and writing proposals.

• All writings must be no more than 600 words in length and must include name, affiliation and social media handle.

• All images must be a4/a5 and no more than 150dpi.

• Files must be submitted in the format Name_Title_CF_issue1.docx

• Unfortunately, the zine cannot offer any reimbursement for works, and any image or writing concerns should be raised in advance of publication. Hopefully, payment can be offered in the future if there is any sponsorship, however this project is seen as an opportunity to create dialogues and foster networking across practices. 

• Publication will be online only through Issuu and in Pdf copies only. This may change depending on reception from contributors, and will be available directly from the editors, or through an online store.

We do not tolerate racism, misogyny, transphobia, homophobia, biphobia, ableism, classism, body shaming, victim blaming, or MRA bollocks. Culture is a concept, not an opinion.

Editorial Team

Culturefuck(ed)., is edited by Phd researchers Louis D’Arcy-Reed, and Kelly Richards. Their interests are across architecture, arts, media, representation, cultural anthropologies, literature, aesthetics, gender issues, and dismantling hierarchies. They mostly live online (@helloesposito for Louis, @imkellyrichards for Kelly) across varying virtual platforms and have their own research pages available.
