CuratorSpace Artist Bursary #14
Deadline: 31/12/2021Curator Space
Paid opportunity
Due to the pandemic, CuratorSpace have adapted their artist bursary scheme to support artists in maintaining their art practice. Six bursaries of £250 will be awarded.
Artists can apply with existing projects that can be maintained according to the necessary restrictions. The content of the work need not refer to the coronavirus pandemic. Please tell us about your project and its ambitions, as well as how the busary will help you to maintain your practice.
We understand that this award may only support an aspect of the project, such as R&D or materials. That said, we are more interested in hearing about the project as a whole rather than how you would spend the money.
Eligibility
Bursaries are only available to artists with a CuratorSpace Artist or Artist Plus subscription. If artists are applying as a partnership or collective, then at least one of them should have an Artist or Artist Plus subscription.
To subscribe:
Go to https://www.curatorspace.com/about/pricing and click the Subscribe button underneath the Artist or Artist Plus section.
Artists can apply from anywhere in the world. Applications must be written in English.
Applications are accepted from a range of practice including drawing, painting, sculpture, illustration, printmaking, photography, film, video, applied art, live art, etc. Please message to enquire if you are unsure whether you are eligible.
Funds can be used towards the production of new works, research and development, or the purchase of materials.
Students are eligible to apply.
Unfortunately, we cannot currently support applications that are solely performing arts or creative writing focused. This includes music and theatre. Applications which incorporate these media in a contemporary art context will be considered.
Deadline
The deadline for applications is 31st December 2021. A decision will be made within 4 weeks of the deadline and all applicants will be informed of the outcome.
Outcomes
As the bursary is for mantaining art practice, there does not need to be a defined outcome for the bursary. However, if the successful applicants are interested, we can support them in creating an article on the site about how they are continuing to maintain their practice.
Award
Each award will be made in full on receipt of an invoice from the artist after being accepted.
Previous winners
Previous applicants can apply again, but previous winners are not eligible to apply for 12 months after their award, ie. artists selected in July can apply again from the following August.
Details of some of the previous winners can be found at https://www.curatorspace.com/about/bursary-winners
Please note: CuratorSpace receives no external funding and therefore is not able to offer hardship grants. However, we have always been comitted to redistributing profits to support the artist community and will continue to do so.
