Calling all aspiring mapping installation artists! We’re thrilled to be returning to Blackpool this November for another DigiLab – a FREE workshop week for anyone who wants to develop skills in projection-mapping.

Led by imitating the dog and presented in collaboration with Lightpool, DigiLab offers participants the opportunity to learn about ITD techniques and approaches to site-specific projection-mapped installations, from storyboarding through to basic animation and mapping techniques.

Participants will then be able to put these skills into practice to create a piece of work together to share at the end of the week.

DigiLab is held at Lightworks, the home of Blackpool Illuminations, from Monday 24th – Friday 28th November 2025, 10am-5pm.

Spaces are limited. Applications close at 5 pm on Friday, 4th July.

Participants will learn about imitating the dog's approach to site-specific projection mapping work, from storyboarding, through basic animation and projection mapping techniques.

Places are limited, and we expect more applications than we have places. We are asking these questions so that we can work out who we think will get the most from the week.

Who is this course for:

Early career / developing artists and creative people who want to learn about projection mapping.

You might be a visual artist who hasn’t done any projection mapping before, you might be into film or photography or another artform and keen to learn some new techniques, or you might be a lighting or theatre technician looking to expand your creative skills.

We actively encourage submissions from creatives currently underrepresented in the light festival sector, including people from Black, Asian, and ethnically diverse backgrounds and those who identify as neurodiverse or disabled.

Priority will be given to practitioners based in the Northwest.

Please note that we are unable to cover travel and accommodation costs.

Please complete the form and submit no later than 5 pm on Friday, 4th July.

We will notify you of the outcome of your application, by email, by the end of Fri 18th July.
