🖼 Original works:

Submissions of physical pieces [textile works, painting, mixed media etc] are only open to artists who can deliver and collect their work in person on the day of installation and take-down.

🌍 Priority:

We particularly encourage submissions from underrepresented communities — especially QTPOC / artists from the global majority, migrants, refugees, and artists based in Sussex and Worthing.

Exhibition Theme: Flags and Diversity

In the wake of recent far-right demonstrations across the UK, “Raising the Colours” actions and the counter anti-facist protests that responded to them, this exhibition invites artists and photographers to reflect on the symbolism, power, and contradictions of flags, especially in the context of England / UK history and its colonial legacy.

Flags can unite or divide. They can be emblems of belonging, of exclusion, of protest, of hope.

This exhibition asks:

Whose colours are raised? Who gets represented, who gets left out, and how can we imagine new flags for a truly diverse society?

We welcome submissions from artists and photographers working in any medium that engages with:

  • The politics and poetics of flags
  • National identity and its challenges
  • Acts of solidarity and resistance
  • Diversity, visibility, and representation
  • Reclaiming or reimagining symbols of belonging

Eligibility:

Open to artists and photographers, age 18+,  at any stage of their career, based in the UK or beyond.  We particularly encourage submissions from underrepresented communities — especially QTPOC / artists from the global majority, migrants, refugees, and artists based in Sussex and Worthing.
