Folklore Themed Pop Up Exhibition
Deadline: 18/07/2026City: London | Region: London | Country: United Kingdom | Seb Bradshaw
Open Call: seeking visual art, music, and performance for a folklore centred pop-up exhibition at Unit 0, Copeland Park, on Saturday 22nd August.
For centuries, myths, folklore, and ritual helped communities make sense of the world, connect with the land, and pass knowledge between generations.
These traditions continue to inspire artists, offering ways to explore identity, heritage, memory, and belonging.
We invite submissions from artists working in any medium (except AI) whose practice engages with folklore, myth, legend, ritual, or cultural traditions from any part of the world.
We welcome both traditional and contemporary interpretations, whether rooted in personal heritage, local histories, or reimagined narratives.
You may submit up to three works.
The deadline for submissions is July 18th at midnight.
Submission is free, and if selected, participation is free.
There will be a print sale for zines, smaller works and prints, and the venue will take 30% commission on works and prints sold through us.
For the zine and print stall, artists wishing to contribute are advised to provide products with a low to high spectrum of pricing, to appeal to different buyers.
For example, we found that small £5 postcard prints were largely successful, but a few larger prints sell too.
This is the second time we have created one of these pop-up shows, and whilst we cannot accurately guarantee numbers, the first show on March 21st of this year had over 100 people attending over the course of the day, and is in a location with lots of foot traffic.
Copeland Park is situated in a vibrant area of Peckham, with lots of art galleries and popular shops and venues nearby.
Promotion of the show will be via postering around the area and in local cultural venues, by creating listings for the event on sites such as Eventbrite, and by social media promotion.
Organisers will also send invitations among their contacts in their art and media circles, as we hope artists will too, to ensure as wide a reach as possible!
At the event, no formal documentation or publication is planned, although there will be a press release written by the curator based on artists' information.
