We are looking for queer and trans artists who explore queerness as part of their practice to be part of an art exhibition/open mic event to raise money for Jordan's gender-affirming surgery. This will take place at Wharf Chambers in Leeds on 3rd April 2024. This is an unpaid opportunity due to it being a fundraising event.

A message from Jordan: "I am raising money for my top surgery. I don’t want to go into detail about my experience of dysphoria or publicly disclose my trauma, I hope that folks will respect this choice.

As trans people, we should not be forced to beg for money and share extremely personal stories and details of trauma to “prove” we need access to life-saving surgeries and healthcare. However, our alternative is waiting for 5+ years on waiting lists, which for many of us is just not an option.

I’ve been out as trans for about 9 years and I can’t wait any longer to get surgery, so I have made the decision that I need to go privately. I am unable to attempt to save money for this surgery, as I rely on disability benefits to live. I cannot do this on my own."

The art submitted for this exhibition event would just be for the event itself, we do not expect to keep or sell the art pieces for the fundraiser.
