Haus -A -Rest - issue 60 -OPEN CALL for Artists & Writers, the theme - "Continuing Conversations"
Deadline: 03/06/2025Jenna Fox
We’re seeking artists and writers for our next exhibition and publication themed “Continuing Conversations.” This open call invites work that engages with dialogue between people, places, artworks, or communities. Whether through sound, text, image, or interaction, we’re looking for pieces that respond, echo, challenge, or extend a conversation.
This theme's heart is the idea that dialogue—spoken, unspoken, visual, sonic, spatial—is never static.
Conversations evolve, shift, repeat, and ripple across time, space, and media.
These exchanges are the foundation of artistic expression, whether between individuals, across communities, or within the language of materials and disciplines.
We're looking for work that explores art as dialogue—art that responds, reframes, or reverberates.
How does your work speak to or with its environment, its audience, or other works? How does it inhabit a conversation rather than a monologue?
This open call seeks work that:
- Engages with conversations between people, across cultures, generations, or ideologies.
- Usesplacement, context, or location to enter into a dialogue with a space—urban, natural, digital, or institutional.
- Functions as a response piece—echoing or challenging another artist’s work, a text, a historical moment, or an overlooked voice.
- Integrates sound, film, or performance as interactive or dialogic forms—pieces that might “speak back,” invite participation, or build tension through contrast.
- Encouragesaudience or community involvement, sparking discussion, reflection, or collaboration.
We welcome proposals from visual artists, writers, filmmakers, performers, and sound artists, including cross-disciplinary work.
Submissions might be conceptual or grounded, intimate or collective, quiet or confrontational—but they should all embody the spirit of continuing the conversation, not ending it.
Let your work talk, echo, interrupt, ask, and listen.

This call is open to artists across all visual media (painting, photography, sculpture, digital art, etc.) and writers working in poetry, fiction, nonfiction, or hybrid forms. We encourage experimental, boundary-pushing work that brings fresh perspectives to the theme.
