** Deadline 6th January 2026 ***
Haus-a-rest is seeking photographers and writers for our upcoming online issue exploring the theme “Unseen Perspective.”
In a world saturated with images and stories, we’re looking for work that shifts the angle—literally or metaphorically. We want pieces that challenge the viewer or reader to look again, to question what they think they know, or to see something that usually goes unnoticed.
This issue asks:
What becomes visible when we change our vantage point? What truths or fictions emerge from the margins, the shadows, the overlooked, or the unspoken?
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
PHOTOGRAPHY
We’re open to all styles—experimental, conceptual, documentary, abstract, portraiture, street, or mixed media—as long as your piece engages with the idea of an alternative or hidden viewpoint.
Example directions you might explore:
- The world from a child’s eye level.
- Reflections, distortions, or shadows that reveal a second narrative.
- A private ritual or daily moment most people never witness.
- Objects photographed from unusual angles that alter their meaning.
- Places in transition: behind-the-scenes, backstage, between spaces.
- A personal archive that uncovers a forgotten or secret perspective.
- Surprise us. Subvert the expected frame.
WRITING
We accept poetry, flash fiction, short essays, micro-memoir, hybrid work, and experimental text (up to 800 words).
Example directions you might explore:
- A story narrated by an unexpected voice (an object, an animal, a memory).
- A poem exploring the emotional landscape behind a seemingly ordinary moment.
- A micro-essay about something you’ve noticed that others overlook.
- A fragmented or non-linear piece that disrupts standard perspective.
- A reflection on surveillance, visibility, invisibility, or anonymity.
- A personal experience retold from the viewpoint of someone in the background.
We welcome the strange, the intimate, the bold, and the quietly profound.
