'Hive' is a community project supported by SEED and Bridgwater Town Deal. We are looking for local artists who would like exhibition experience. There is an opportunity to sell work and marketing is provided by the gallery. Please apply to this open call if you are an amateur or early career artist with small artworks with an ecological theme and an interest in connecting with the Bridgwater creative community.
‘Hive’ Open Call
The Bridgy Art Gallery and Sami Green Creative are offering Somerset-based Artists an opportunity to respond to an open call, to submit existing artwork for exhibition at The Bridgy Gallery.
The Bridgy gallery has agreed to open its doors for a collective Open Show to raise awareness of the environment, delivering an inspiring exhibition for the community.
Works must fit into the theme of ‘Ecological’ and ‘Eco-Friendly, looking at our environment and bringing a viewer's attention to the beauty of the world around us, species in decline, and our locality.
We would like to celebrate what we have and draw attention to the theme in a positive way, inspiring a connection to the local area.
The aim of the project is to further support the growth of Arts engagement in Bridgwater by supporting The Bridgy Gallery as a growing centre for the arts in the town.
We would like to offer local artists the opportunity to exhibit as part of a show, offer works for sale through the gallery and make connections with other creatives.
It would benefit community artists who have created works that would benefit from a further platform for show.
Sami Green will be hanging her recent community participatory work, Swarm and offering workshops as part of the installation and exhibition.
The open call asks for submissions of interest from artists who have been developing works on an ecological theme.
The selected works will be displayed at The Bridgy Gallery from the 17th of September to the 16th of October.
We welcome any art submission that can be exhibited: in sound, visuals, fine art, and crafts, possibly even performance, and there is a garden suitable for sculpture.
The opportunity comes with no cost to the artist. 30% Commission will be taken on sales.
Running costs for the duration of the exhibition, posters and marketing will be provided by the gallery and the guest curator.
A panel will be brought together to discuss the potential of the works for the long gallery and select the works that best fit the brief. We are aiming to inspire our local community.
The closing date to submit for our September exhibition is July 31st.
