The Power of Embroidery is a project led by artist Or Williams in partnership with the Refugee Support Group (RSG) and Reading Museum Partnership in Reading UK. This project aims to feature stories of diaspora, migration, refuge, and asylum-seeking in the UK by creating a collective embroidered tapestry made by refugees and asylum seekers. The tapestry will be exhibited during Heritage Open Days at Reading Museum in September 2024.

We invite individuals to share their unique stories and experiences within the diaspora. Whether through personal narratives, poetry, or visual storytelling, we seek to unravel the threads that connect us all.

Submissions should reflect the richness and diversity of diasporic journeys, fostering a deeper understanding of interconnected narratives.

Images will be scanned, printed and hand-stitched, and selected texts will be integrated into the tapestry.

Submission Guidelines:

- Open to individuals from all backgrounds and cultures.

- Accepting written submissions (short stories, poetry, essays) or visual content (photography and artwork).

- Submissions should explore personal experiences, challenges, triumphs, or reflections related to diaspora.

- Maximum word count for written submissions: 1000 words.

- Include a brief bio with your submission.
