Issue 2 Under My Skin Magazine | Euphoria
Deadline: 01/08/2026City: San Francisco | Country: United States | Robyn Mallery
Transgender, Genderqueer, Intersex, and Nonbinary artists - how do you experience euphoria?
In a livestream event we held many years ago, the topic of euphoria came up.
We were discussing how the medical field diagnoses trans people with gender dysphoria, and we wondered what "positive diagnoses" might look like, such as being able to receive beneficial care for positive things that still affect our lives.
Affirming care for gender EUPHORIA instead of dysphoria. How would that come about? Neither of us were doctors, but the idea stuck with each of us.
Now, with this magazine, we want to explore the topic of euphoria, or the absence of it.
We're looking for poems, essays, articles, all forms of visual art, etc.
We would love to also promote music and film, even if we can't physically put that media into paper.
What brings you euphoria? How does your body feel? How does it react? Put it into art and let us see what your unique experience holds.
We especially encourage submissions from artists who are multiply marginalised, chronically ill, disabled, trans, intersex, undocumented, incarcerated or formerly incarcerated, low-income, and otherwise systemically excluded. You are welcome to use a pseudonym if you like.
Benefits:
Artists will receive a digital copy of the published work Credit lines and description of the artwork will accompany images in the issue
We will provide promotion via our growing social media (1000~ across all channels) and our website.
WHO ARE WE?
The California Aggregation for Gender Diversity exists to build community, provide resources, and educate the public on Transgender, Genderqueer, Intersex, and Nonbinary (TGIN+) topics through history and art programming.
In the "+" we recognize Hijra, Two-Spirit, Fa’afafine, Māhū, Fakaleiti, Muxe, Wíŋkte, Nádleeh, Ininiikaazo, Bakla, Ashtime, Mashoga, Quariwarmi, Tida Wena, Whakawahine, Travesti, Xanith, X-Jenda, Calabai/Calalai/Bissu, Kathoey, Mak Nyah, Burrnesha, Femminiello, Alyha/Hwame, Biza’ah, Lhamana, Nadleeh, Waria, Ninauposkitzipxpe, Mukhannathun, Aravani, Dhurani, Jagakappa, Khawaja Sira, Kothi, Metis, Ombodhu, Rupantarkami, Acaults, Agender, Bigender, Genderfluid, Demigender, Pangender, and all other Third Gender individuals and plurals.
Our small but mighty team imagines a place in which we can proudly celebrate our worldwide community together.
With an ambitious plan to build or purchase a brick and mortar museum space in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area, we want to hit the ground running with interim programming like workshops, hangouts, and our signature event: an annual TGIN+ art exhibition.
Our goal is for the museum to become a staple in the community it serves for events, film screenings, education, speaking programs, research, art, and meetings, and much more.
We want the building itself to signify a dramatic shift in the narrative about TGIN+ people and how we exist in society.
Recently, our focus has shifted from California based to nationwide as attacks on our community have escalated.
We still have a long-term goal of building the museum, but our immediate efforts are focused on the safety and wellbeing of our community.
