We would like to create an entire magazine issue to showcase the artwork of 1 artist. Will it be you?

Photosynthesis Magazine is excited to share a brand new opportunity for collage artists. Please read all of the following information before submitting.

Photosynthesis is a quarterly online and print collage magazine that supports and uplifts collage artists free of charge and ad-free. After a couple of issues, we realized that we wanted more artwork to be seen and that a quarterly release was just not enough. We also wanted to create an opportunity that would provide some payment to the artists involved, which is simply not logistically doable or reasonable with our quarterly issue. 

Our regular quarterly issues run in March, June, September, and December. Starting in January 2024, all other months will be open to artist features. In these months, we will devote an entire issue to a single outstanding artist who will share their vision, their artwork, the meanings, and more. We will be looking for submissions that challenge boundaries, create extraordinary collage artwork, and present thoughtful, provoking narratives through writing. Please note, we will focus equally on the writing submissions and the collages, as they are equally important for this publication. 

There are no fees to submit or participate in our magazine or artist of the month submissions. 

Artists retain ALL rights to their work which may be published elsewhere before, during, or after their issue is published with us. We are merely a promoting agent and want your work to be seen by as many people as possible! 

This is a PAID opportunity. The artist will collect 50% of the profit in magazine sales in perpetuity, paid by Lulu Publishing, the software we use to publish. The selected artist will be required to let us know their PayPal email OR submit a tax ID to receive a check. It does not have to be a United States tax ID. PayPal payments are made monthly (30 days) with a minimum payment of $5.00 USD or the equivalent. Check payments are made quarterly (90 days) with a minimum payment of $20.00 USD or the equivalent.

Payments are calculated and distributed solely by Lulu, Photosynthesis Magazine does not handle any money. The selected artist will also need to fill out a W-9 form if in the United States OR a W8-BEN if they live elsewhere - regardless of which payment method they prefer. Please consult a tax professional if you have any questions regarding these tax forms. This form will need to be sent directly to the publishing company - details provided later. Payments can be made to the artist in USD, EUR, AUD, CAD, GPB.
