Lost Love will be an exhibition of small works inspired by love and loss, whether that’s romantic, platonic, or family love.

Lost Love - Open Call

Lost Love will be an exhibition of small works by artists from across the UK about love and loss. Romantically this could be inspired by “the one that got away”, a painful separation, or even a celebration of finding independence following a breakup.

It could also be inspired by a sad parting or a memorial for a loved one. We would love to see what you submit.

Work can be any medium except audio or video works, and wall-mounted work can be any size or shape, but should be no bigger than 25 x 25cm.

Sculptural work should fit on a 30x30cm plinth or smaller.

Artists from all over the UK are invited to submit 1 piece of work for the exhibition. You may provide a short description of no more than 150 words, but this will NOT be displayed alongside the work.

The exhibition will run from 31st January – 15th February 2024.

There will be a Private View event on Tuesday 30th January 5.30-7 pm

Please note, that the gallery is upstairs and there is no disabled access.

Artists from all backgrounds are invited to submit one piece of work each. It is free to apply with only successful artists paying a fee of £25.

In return for your fee, you will get a private view evening with free drinks which you are welcome to bring friends and family along to, invigilation throughout, and promotion of the exhibition online through social media posts.

The submission deadline is 7th January 2024.

Successful artists will be contacted by 8th January 2024.

Successful artists are welcome to send their work by post. Work should be posted directly to the gallery.

Work sent by post should reach us by 20th January 2024 at the latest.

Artists are also welcome to deliver work in person to the gallery during gallery opening hours between 10th – 20th January 2024. If you have any issues with these dates please contact us before applying.

Successful artists should pay their £25 fee by 20th January 2024.

Work can be offered for sale during the exhibition, and there is a commission charge of 10%.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

How to Submit

Wall Mounted work

Artists are invited to submit one piece of work each. Work can be any size or shape but should be no bigger than 25x25 cm. Please give us the completed size of your work including any frames or mounts. All work should be ready to hang and can be framed or unframed, with suitable hanging attachments in place.
You may submit up to 3 images of your piece of work.

Sculpture and 3-D

3-D and sculptural work that does not hang on the wall should be able to fit onto a 30 x 30 plinth provided by the gallery. All work should arrive ready to display.

Work can be collected from the gallery during gallery opening hours between 28th February – 14th March.

If you would like your work returned to you by post please be aware that we charge a fee which includes a £4 handling fee and 2nd Class signed for postage. Larger parcels can be returned through Parcelforce and will be sent Express 48.

Couriers cannot collect your work from the gallery and we do not print postage labels. If work is small enough you are welcome to include a stamped addressed envelope for return postage which will incur no further charge.

All work must be complete at the time of submission. Any work which varies from the original piece or size submitted may be rejected. If you wish to submit any form of print, it will be your responsibility to print it off and prepare it for exhibition before delivering it to us.

Thank you and good luck!
