Now in its 6th year Malton sculpture trail is fast becoming a favourite amongst locals and visitors alike, now including 2D artworks as well as 3D we are inviting artists to submit their work for the new expanded trail!

Malton Sculpture Trail began in 2020 and, from then, has gone from strength to strength and brought hundreds of visitors during the food festival.

The trail has now gone fom purely Malton to our neighbours in Norton as well as our flagship nature trail in Dalby forest and we have been granted permission to keep the exhibition running on a rolling basis.

The trail is along a 2KM loop through yorkshires great forest, with paths alongside throughout making it a perfect outdoor gallery.

The Dalby Trail, the selection panel will similarly assess and decide which pieces are appropriate for transport and subsequent display in Dalby forest.

All 3D work must be given appropriate assessment for permanent outdoor display and permanent exterior installation in a public space, either freestanding or suitable for a 600 x 600mm plinth.

2D work will be scanned and re-printed as an exterior-grade print. Any 2D work can be of any media form. We require high-quality images for both the brochure and promotional purposes which will be required after selection:

For the Brochure (Print Quality):

  • Please submit 2 high-quality images of your artwork.
  • These images should be representative of the work you will be exhibiting.
  • File Format: JPEG or TIFF
  • Minimum Resolution: 300 dpi (dots per inch)
  • Minimum Size: 2000 pixels on the longest side

For Promotion (Digital Use - Website, Social Media):

  • Please submit 2 high-quality images of your artwork.
  • These images will be used for our website, social media, and other digital promotions. They can be the same as the brochure images or different, depending on what you feel best showcases your work digitally.
  • File Format: JPEG
  • Recommended Resolution: 72 dpi (suitable for web)
  • Recommended Size: Between 1000-2000 pixels on the longest side

Unfortunately, sound and projection work will not be accepted in the application or submission process.

Each year, the intake is selected by an independent panel of artists and curators. If your work is not selected, you can not appeal in any way, as decisions made by the panel are final.

You can submit up to four artworks. There is no submission fee.

Please ensure you have PPL insurance before submitting. (You can obtain insurance through CuratorSpace)

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions that are not answered in the FAQ section; however, please ensure that you have appropriately and thoroughly looked through the FAQ section prior to reaching out.

We do offer support to artists who require aid in transporting, installing, and then returning their work, if you require this please ensure to mention this in your application form in the required question section.
