This art mentorship, guided by Feelium Gallery's co-founder, offers a brief but impactful 2-day intensive workshop or shorter 1:1 sessions. Tailored for artists at any career stage, the program focuses on positioning participants in the art world. Explore diverse artist portfolios, study successful residency and grant applications, and delve into relevant literature on artist positioning. The mentorship equips you with practical skills in portfolio construction, bio writing, and artist statement development. Join us to refine your artistic identity and navigate the art landscape with confidence.

Course outline

1. Introduction and Artist Positioning: Get to know your fellow participants and our course leader. Explore literature on artist positioning.
   
   
2. Portfolio Development: Select and organise artwork for your portfolio. Tailor the content specific to your practice.
   
   
3. Artist Statement and Design: Receive an InDesign template and guidance for crafting an artist statement.
   
   
4. Gallery Role-Play: Practice introducing yourself as an artist to gallery professionals. Receive constructive feedback on coherence, information, confidence, engagement, and personality.
   
   
5. Application Insights: Explore various application categories (residencies, academic, etc.) and review real-world examples.
   
   
6. Portfolio Critiques: Analyse a selection of artists' portfolios, identifying strengths and areas for improvement.
   
   
7. Interactive Learning: Each day offers a blend of research, reading, and hands-on activities focused on personal development, including writing, presenting, and communication.

The course is spread across 2 days (8h) for larger groups or 1 day (4h) for 1:1 sessions.

A £50 deposit secures your spot, with the remainder due one day before the course begins. Full payment is required for course attendance.
