Glass Sellers’ CGS Graduate Glass PRIZE and New Graduate Review 2023.

CGS is pleased to announce the launch of the 2023 Graduate Prize and New Graduate Review.

We are delighted that the Worshipful Company of Glass Sellers of London Charity Fund have helped fund the Prize and Review together with Professor Michael Barnes MC FRCP. 

As students emerge from their education, CGS wish to support graduates at the beginning of what we hope will be a long career in glass making. 

All students graduating from a British & Irish accredited course in 2023 will be eligible to enter by submission of the application form and digital images. 

There will be one Winner, a Second and two Runners-up, with several Commendations.  All will appear in the C.G.S. – New Graduate Review.

PRIZES;

The first prize includes:

  • £500 cash
  • £200 vouchers from Creative Glass UK
  • A promotional package, including cover & feature in the New Graduate Review
  • Two years’ C.G.S. Membership.
  • A year’s subscription to Neues Glas - New Glass: Art & Architecture magazine
  • A selection of glass related books provide by Alan J Poole


Second Prize

  • £150 cash
  • £100 voucher from Warm Glass
  • One year’s membership of CGS
  • A Year’s Subscription to  Neues Glas - New Glass: Art & Architecture magazine


2 x Runners Up

Two Runners-up will each receive:

  •  £50 Vouchers from Pearsons Glass,

CGS New Graduate Review

This 16 page publication, will be circulated extensively to all Colleges, Museums, CGS members and will appear in Neues Glas - New Glass: Art & Architecture (circulated world-wide).  It is a wonderful opportunity to have your work seen by thousands of people.

CGS online exhibition – Online show on CGS website of all work featured in New Graduate Review. 

Criteria for Selection

  • You must be graduating from a British or Irish accredited course in 2023
  • Work must consist of at least 50% glass.
  • The work will be judged for quality and concept

SUBMISSIONS

up to 5pm on Monday, 17th July 2023

The Selection

This will be made from images only, so please ensure your images are good quality & high resolution and represent your work accurately. Please send images that show the complete work, details can also be included if you wish. You can send images of one piece or one image of three pieces.

Images should be high resolution 300dpi, and please give photo credit, this will enable CGS to commence PR for a press campaign with images of work by successful applicants.

You must include a colour photographic portrait of yourself in 300dpi. Should you be selected for the magazine this will be included alongside your work, so please consider lighting just like you would for your glasswork.    

A panel including CGS Board Members and an independent jury, will select work in August 2023 and we will contact successful applicants by  14th August 2023.

If you have not heard by 15th August 2022 please assume you have not been successful.  We will attempt to inform all applicants of the outcome, but this may not be possible if the volume of applications is high.

Deadlines; Copy and information from the successfully selected Graduates, to appear in the Review, will be succinct and must be MET; otherwise, you will not be included in the publication.

Glass Sellers’ CGS Graduate Glass PRIZE and New Graduate Review 2023

We encourage you to show us up to 3 pieces of your work, the winner will have all three featured in the publication.  Other winners and commended graduates may only have one image featured, so please ensure you have at least one excellent image.

You can submit up to 3 pieces of work or 3 images of one piece.  Jpgs at 300dpi and 30cm high, give photo credit on all images. If you are including only one piece of work, one image must show the complete piece of work.
