DURING SPRING 2026 WE ARE OFFERING ARTISTS SOLE AND FREE USE OF A LARGE STUDIO SPACE FOR ONE WEEK IN NEWHAVEN.

This is an opportunity for artists to immerse themselves in making new work in a unique, different environment and engage with a wider public through an open studio event.

Newhaven Art Space is a light, open, ground-floor space in the middle of the High Street with good public transport links. The space measures 4.2 x 6.5 m.

We are looking to support contemporary artists with an existing or emerging practice.

There are four weeks available. Successful artists will be offered one week;

1. Monday 23 – Saturday 28 March inclusive

2. Monday 30 March – Saturday 4 April inclusive

3. Monday 13 April – Saturday 18 April inclusive

4. Monday 20 April – Saturday 25 April inclusive

The final day of each week is a Saturday, and the studio must be open to the public.

The studio can be used daytime between 8 am and 7 pm and Saturday between 8 am and 5 pm.

We expect artists to make daily use of the space for the week they are offered and to be present, perhaps still working, in the space at the open studio event - this is not an exhibition opportunity but a time to engage with visitors, such as other artists and the general public, about your practice.

We will showcase your activity through social media and send invites, from our mailing lists, for the open studio event.

Please note that for health, safety and insurance purposes, there are restrictions on the processes that can be used in the space. There can be no use of naked flames or heavy machinery.

The storage or use of hazardous or toxic materials is not permitted, and the structure and fabric of the building cannot be altered. Any electrical equipment must be professionally PAT tested. There is no smoking within the building.

Any contents insurance is the artist's responsibility. Access is on the ground floor but is limited by a shopfront-style door. Studio users will be given a key, and lost keys will be charged for.
