We are looking for artists to design and paint the shutters along Oak Lane in Bradford providing a visual journey along the road even when businesses are closed. Oak Lane has a wide range of businesses that operate at various times of the day, and we want to ensure that whenever you’re on Oak Lane it feels bright, colourful, and exciting to walk up and down. The shutters are big empty canvases that we are using to support other creative engagements happening along the road.

We are looking to commission a mural or street artists based in the West Yorkshire region to paint one of the shutters along Oak Lane in Bradford. For this we are asking artists to submit a small application showing their previous work, and a short description or idea of the sort design you are envisioning for the shutters.

We will have parameters around colour palettes, themes, wording in order to ensure some cohesion between all shutters and to safeguard the business owners who agree to the art-work taking place.

This recruitment process is a relaxed one and we want to ensure that there is room for creative exploration from applicants but also allows the creative control to fall within the realms agreed with the owners.

All applicants must have had some experience with spray paint however we don't expect all applicants to have had experience in delivering this size of work but they must have a desire to want to learn. If you can include your skill level in the application we will be able to organise any support you might need.

April: Finalising ideas, confirming site plans
