Wigan STEAM is a participatory arts organisation that aims to build connections between STEM, culture and heritage. We are currently accepting proposals from artists and curators for our 2017/18 gallery programme. We welcome proposals from artists working in all mediums whose practice has links with STEM subjects, and are particularly interested in hearing from artists who work with digital media. We also welcome related events such as performances, talks, and workshops.

The STEAM hub houses a digital suite, ceramic studio, community cinema, and a fully equipped maker space. Along with this, we are home to a gallery space in which we show artwork which brings in themes of science, technology, engineering, or maths.

Our town centre gallery space (13ft x 13ft) is located in our front window and faces onto a main street. We welcome proposals from artists working in all mediums whose practice has links with STEM subjects, and are particularly interested in hearing from artists who work with digital media. We also welcome related events such as performances, talks, and workshops.

Exhibitions will last for 2-4 weeks and will be programmed from August 2017 onwards. Please let us know if there is a specific date you would like to exhibit. Wigan STEAM will publicise the exhibition via social and print media. Transport, installation, and public liability insurance costs will by the responsibility of the artist/curator.
