Uncovered Collective is an arts organisation whose objective is to showcase artists and offer a snapshot of current art practice, especially that which falls outside the commercial gallery and traditional museum systems. We achieve this by holding group exhibitions that transform unusual spaces into rich artistic environments. We are pleased to announce the details of our next show 'derǝlict, art in the age of decline'.

Based loosely on the ideas explored in the essay "creating art as a child of the winter" (please click here to read) our next show is being held at one of our most popular previous venues The Safehouse in Peckham, a pair of abandoned and dilapidated Victorian houses. The themes of the show are broadly decay, degradation, collapse and the feeling of dread that accompanies the sense of impending doom.

Despite the pessimistic tone dispensation will be given to any artwork that employs satire, wit or (in this case, gallows) humour. We are particularly interested in site-specific work, that is work that responds to or is in dialogue with the location in which it is shown. ALL work will be considered. This includes performance and film/video art.

Location

137/139 Copeland Road, SE15 3SN (two minute walk from Peckham Rye station).

Dates

This is a pop-up exhibition and will take place on Saturday 25th November and Sunday 26th November.

The private view will be held on Friday 24th November between 6pm and 9pm.

Artwork will have to be dropped off at the venue on Thursday 23rd November between 10am and 2pm.

Artwork to be collected on Sunday 26th November between 5pm and 6pm.

DEADLINE FOR OPEN CALL: 29TH OCTOBER

COST

Uncovered Collective is a not-for-profit organisation. As with all our exhibitions, the cost of the show is split amongst the participating artists, in this case £50.

As well as the normal promotion via our social network leading up to the show, the curation and setting up,  we will provide wine for your guests during the private view and hire a photographer to document your work.
