Are you a sculptor making contemporary work for outdoors? Artists based in the South West are invited to submit existing work for inclusion in an exciting exhibition of contemporary sculpture at The Walled Garden, Dorset from May - August 2018.

The Walled Garden is a beautiful three acre landscaped garden in Dorset. We are offering opportunties for sculptors to exhibit existing work alongside invited artists Isla Chaney, Andy Kirkby, Lisa Lindqvist, David Worthington, Kit Benwell , Ian Middleton and internationally acclaimed sculptor John Maine RA. 

The  exhibition will launch during Dorset Art Weeks 2018 - the UK's greatest free festival of visual art - and continue over the Summer.

Selected artists will recieve help with transportation and installation of work, all work exhibited will be covered by insurance and is monitored daily. The venue has excellent footfall, accessible facilities and on-site cafe serving great Dorset produce.

We encourage artists at any stage of their career to apply - we want to show great artwork in a superb venue to thousands of people.

Artists must be based in the South West and can submit up to three artworks for selection.

A bit about the selectors...

Sandy Kirkby is a curator who has worked for the last 20 years in the cultural sector in museums, galleries, artists commissioning and outdoor events. Previously, Exhibitions & Events Manager at Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum and curator at The Study Gallery, Poole; she is currently producer for b-side festival and is keen to provide more opportunities for sculptors to show contemporary work in Dorset.

Ian Middleton studied  at Sheffield College of Art and the Royal College of Art and worked with Eduardo Paolozzi before moving to the West Country. He has taught in a number of British Art Schools, teaching sculpture at Farnham from 1988 - 2005. In 2013 Ian did a Fellowship at Chelsea College Of Art and in 2014 was elected an Academician at the Royal West of England Academy.

What kind of proposals are you looking for?
Contemporary sculpture in any material that can be sited outdoors
What are the selection criteria?
The work must be based in the South West (this is for transportation purposes)
The work must be available for DAW dates 26 May - 10 June with the possibility of staying on site until end of August 2018
What about transportation and installation of work?
Work will be transported to and from the venue and there will be help to install work - it is very important that you give details of dimensions and weight of work in your application.
