The SketchUp Residency is a project created and curated by artists Sid and Jim where participating artists develop projects based around the 3D modelling software ‘Google SketchUp' for the duration of their term.

The SketchUp Residency aims to showcase a range of work by emerging artists. We host monthly residencies on our Instagram page (@sketchupresidency) and host the final outcomes of them on our website (www.thesketchupresidency.com).

The way the residency manifests is entirely up to the artist! We will try to facilitate anything that the selected artist(s) believes to be appropriate or necessary for the conceptual structure of the work they make. This could be anything from a navigable 3D model for the SketchUp website, to an embedded animation of the work, to a downloadable VR model. Anything that can go on the website will be considered and we encourage digital and non-digital artists to apply; please be inventive and don’t feel limited by these suggestions!

Selected applicants are asked to publish their research via The SketchUp Residency Instagram account for 4 weeks prior to their work going live on the site. Posts can be made, found, stolen etc. and should occur 2 or 3 times a week. At the end of the residency their final work will move into the archive.

SketchUp is a free 3D modelling program for a wide range of drawing applications such as architectural, interior design, landscape architecture, civil and mechanical engineering, film, and video game design.

To apply to be a part of The SketchUp Residency please fill out the online form.

Please include:

- An artist statement and proposal outlining how you wish to use the platform. (max 300 words)

- Examples of your work: either a website or a selection of images/videos
