The Art House is supporting early-career artists to create work through four micro-commissions. These may be a complete project or a precursor or preliminary stage for larger or future projects. Works produced as a result of these micro-commissions can be shown as part of the Wakefield Artwalk in either January or March 2020, dependent on the selected artists’ needs.
We welcome applications from artists working in any medium, including performance, film and socially engaged practice. Selected artists will have the opportunity for group crits and one-to-one mentoring from The Art House team, dependent on their needs and practice. Artists selected will show their work as part of the January or March Wakefield Artwalk.

- An artists’ fee of £250
- An additional materials budget of £200

The Art House
The Art House provides time, space and support for artists and associates to develop their critical practice and professional careers. Everyone is welcome to experience contemporary visual art and learn about the practice of being an artist through a year-round programme of exhibitions and events. The Art House is a visual arts development agency and registered charity established in 1994 in response to the lack of facilities for disabled visual artists. We are now an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation dedicated to supporting artists and showcasing their work. We have a fully accessible building with 50 artist’s studios, exhibition spaces, and on-site accommodation, and run a year-long programme of process-focussed residencies and support schemes alongside our public events.
